Eligibility
Most people become eligible for Medicare three months before the month of their 65th birthday or after their 24th month of receiving disability benefits.
To qualify for a Simply Healthcare Medicare Advantage plan, you must:
- Be enrolled in Original Medicare (Medicare Part A and Part B)
- Live in a Simply Healthcare Medicare Advantage service area. This means that when you find a plan you’d like to sign up for, you should make sure the plan serves the county where you live.
Specific plan availability may vary depending on your location.
If you qualify for a Medicare Advantage plan, you should sign up as soon as you’re eligible, which is during your seven-month Initial Enrollment Period.
Your Initial Enrollment Period begins three months before the month you turn 65, includes your birth month, and ends three months after the month you turn 65.
You also have the opportunity to sign up, leave or switch Medicare Advantage plans once a year, during the Medicare Open Enrollment Period, also known as the Annual Enrollment Period. The Annual Enrollment Period starts October 15th and ends December 7th each year.
